Hi,

I am danielle gorman.

My life has been transformed as a result of finding a personal, meaningful, spiritual practice that engages body, mind, and soul.

I am a professional yoga therapist, yoga therapy trainer, and lifelong educator.

I have lived in recovery from food addiction for over 10 years, and practice emotional sobriety every single day. My life is second to none and the quality of my recovery is as a result of two sources:

1. 12 Steps, originally created by Bill W. of Alcoholics Anonymous, and adopted by countless groups of people around the world.

Although I have had over 25 years of exposure and experience with the 12 Steps, my understanding of 12 Step spirituality and my ability to effectively facilitate the process for others was catapulted through my work with Herb K. of Palos Verdes, CA in recent years. As an author, lecturer, and teacher of the 12 Steps for the past 25 years, Herb shares with others throughout the United States, how to use Alcoholics Anonymous as the main textbook and primary source for “a spiritual awakening as the result of the 12 steps”.

Because of Herb's generosity and deep commitment to sharing the recovery that was passed on to him, for the past three years, I have been facilitating in-depth workshops to growing numbers of courageous and inspiring people willing to look at themselves and life through a new lens using Alcoholics Anonymous and Herb’s materials that support this process. Herb continues to be my teacher, colleague, and collaborator as we work together on creating opportunities for growth through embodiment and the 12 Steps.

My personal recovery and transformation came from walking through the 12 Steps and recognizing how my entire self: body, mind, and will was negatively impacted by my addictions. The Steps changed the way I relate to my mind and my will and showed me how to align them to a power greater than me.

However, the 12 Steps didn't give me any more tools to relate to my body.

2. Bodymind Yoga Therapy - The 8 Limbs of Yoga gave me the tools to discover the phenomenal resource that my body actually is. Without that resource, that visceral connection to self and my higher power, all spiritual concepts were just that - a bunch of good ideas. With yoga therapy, I am able to use my body to deepen, affirm, and inform my recovery along with my mind and my will.

I am a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists with a private practice in Portland, ME, and member of the mentoring faculty for Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy School.

If you are looking for significant transformation, and are ready for some hard work.  Then I am the therapist for you.
